The chance of a lifetime for Jordan
Oct 05, 2021
Here at Viral Entertainment, we love helping others and watching people have a great time.
When the opportunity came to help local lad Jordan from Corby to achieve his work experience dream, we jumped at the chance!
Jordan Hutchinson has conditions epilepsy and cerebral palsy, but this didn't stop Jordan from wanting to experience the big world of working.
Lockdown presented many challenges for Jordan, but with the help of our friendly team at Viral Entertainment, we took Jordan on as an intern and showed him the virtual reality ropes!
We ensure Jordan is not left on his own at any stage, and he works brilliantly in a team with our daughter, Aimee.
The work experience gave Jordan a much needed boost for his mental health, and saw his confidence grow quickly.
Jordan told us:
"They know what I can and can't do and they take their time to talk and listen. They understand me and I can communicate with them."
Jordan picked up the new work experience skills fast, and he now works a full shift one day a week - helping out with all manner of tasks, from stock taking the bar and café, to sanitising equipment and working behind the till serving customers.
Jordan's Mum Jackie commented on the work experience opportunity:
"Jordan is desperate to lead a 'normal' teenage life and having this job has helped do that. It's absolutely amazing to see him smiling again."
Jordan now has some vital work experience on his CV, which he is hoping will lead to a paid job in Corby:
"I would love a job even for just one day a week. I am really enjoying my work experience and can get out of the house now."
Since taking Jordan on board for work experience we were able to turn it into a paid job for him.
The opportunity for us to take on local teenagers and help them out has been a win-win for us. And long may it continue!
